Cow crash costs the owner €1,650

SLIGO CHAMPION - Wednesday May 09 2012

A COLLISION between a car and a number of cows which came out onto the roadway at Kilmorgan, Ballymote, in November last was recalled at Sligo Court where Judge Kevin Kilrane adjourned a civil claim to July to allow the animal's owner pay a sum of €1,650, to include costs, to the driver.

James Breheny, Cambs, Ballymote, brought the action against Frank Chambers, Drumcormack, Ballymote, arising out of the incident on November 4th last.

Judge Kilrane was informed by Mr. Gerry Mcgovern, solictor, for Breheny, that damages had been agreed in the sum of €1,000 and the only issue was in respect of a sum of €490 for car hire for a period of three months.

Judge Kilrane adjourned the case to July 3rd to allow Chambers pay a total of €1,650, inclusive of costs. He said if payment was not made he would give an award of €1,000, car hire of €490, witnesses expenses of €50, and €150 in respect of postage and full costs.
